YCMES Facilities

The YCMES Main Campus is located next to the Prime Minister’s office. This is the largest complex owned by the college, built around a beautiful green garden, and it contains the College Building, library, computer labs, a prayer room and a snack shop. Plans for a new lecture theatre are underway, and there is wireless internet in all our buildings.

The College Building

This building contains both classrooms and offices. The classrooms are light, modern and fully-equipped, some of them with multimedia projectors. The administrative floor of the building has offices for the president, academic management, accountants, programme officers, and faculty.

Main Building Front

Taking up most of the College Building's ground floor, the new Yemen College of Middle Eastern Studies library houses a substantial collection of Arabic-language reference works, textbooks, short stories, children's books and periodicals, perfect for those learning Arabic at all levels. On top of that is an extensive collection of books in English – novels for our English language students and books on Yemen and Middle Eastern Studies for those interested in Middle Eastern Studies. There is also plenty of space set aside for students to study in peace.

Our students may also use the nearby American Institute for Yemeni Studies' new reference library, which specialises in social sciences, history and archaeology books related to Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula. All students taking our Middle Eastern Studies courses will receive a formal induction at this facility at the beginning of their stay here, and we highly recommend their lectures as well.

Computer Labs

The main building contains two large computer labs equipped with Computer Assisted Language Learning software, Microsoft Office, and internet connectivity. The use of computers is integrated into all courses at YCMES.

Prayer Room

The newest addition to the YCMES complex, the prayer room and attached ablution facilities allow our Muslim students to pray in comfort during their breaks between classes.

Snack Shop

From a cup of tea to chicken and chips, Nasser's shop has it all, allowing students to make use of the tables and chairs that litter the College 'quad' and enjoy a working lunch.
