The Yemen College of Middle Eastern Studies is Yemen’s premier destination for Arabic Language, Middle Eastern Studies, and Business English. We are a fully-accredited not-for-profit college. Programs
YCMES offers a variety of educational programs. Our oldest is the internationally- recognised Program in Arabic Language, which has offered group classes and private tutoring to both international students and local embassy and NGO staff for 30 years. The Program in Arabic Languages is complemented by our Program in Contemporary Middle Eastern Studies. YCMES also contributes to education locally via itsDepartment of English, offering English classes tailored to Yemen’s businesses and government leaders.
Other Services
In addition to the trips andcultural activitiesdesigned to enhance ourinternational students‘experience in Yemen,the College also provides a range of other educational opportunities. We arrange internships offering students an inside look at Yemeni organisations and local issues. We design and host short-term academic and vocational programs with local institutions tailored to the needs of our clients. We host and offer assistance to researchers arrange congressional and group study visits, and organise field trips, site visits and cultural orientation for international students and local residents. The Campus
Centrally located between Tahrir Square and the Prime Minister’s Office, within walking distance of the Old City, the YCMES campus consists of four separate buildings. The main college building, student dormitory and guest house are all located on 26th September Street, and a smaller dormitory is to be found in historical Bab al-Sabah. All four buildings, owned by the college, are lovingly constructed and restored in the traditional Yemeni architectural style, and all four are fully modernised and even boast wireless internet. Eligibility and Admissions
YCMES is open to all qualified individuals, regardless of race, religion, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or national origin. Requirements for admission vary, depending on the category of entering student and the programme they wish to enter. Every effort will be made to constitute a diverse class and to accommodate every need. Read more about our policies here.
Upon program completion, successful students are issued the applicable certificate or diploma. Transcripts are also available upon request.
